Title:Developing a multisensory experience in the Posavje Museum Brežice
Abstract:Tourism is a dynamic, evolving industry that is constantly adapting to global trends and practices. At the beginning of the 21st century, tourism is becoming an economy of experiences and is slowly moving from offering services to staging quality experiences. The concept of the experience economy was introduced to the field of tourism by authors Pine and Gilmore in 1998. Since then, many methods have been created for developing quality experiences. One of such methods is the inclusion of human senses in the offer. Thus, some say that the quality of tourist experience depends on the success of stimulating as many senses as possible. The Posavje Museum Brežice is a tourist product that, with its spatial size and popularity, can be ideal for the development of a multisensory offer. The state of the sensory dimension in the museum and how to improve it was researched by means of a survey conducted on a sample of museum visitors. The analysis showed that sight predominates in the museum offer, and hearing has the greatest potential for development. The results of the research must be placed in the context of the COVID-19 epidemic, as the stimulation of certain senses, mostly touch, was very limited for safety reasons.
