Abstract:

Title:
Export and Export Factors within ICT Companies in Slovenia
Abstract:
Companies conduct a variety of research and analyses to identify factors which could potentially lead to failure or boost success. For the ICT sector in Slovenia, no publicly available analysis of internal factors of export performance has been conducted. These are the factors that companies can influence and thus ensure greater export performance. As part of the bachelor thesis, we set a conceptual framework with which we empirically test the selected division of factors on a selected sample of companies and determine which factor is most important or has the most significant impact on export performance, with the help of international trade and internationalisation theories, as well as the theories of the firm. For this purpose, we prepared a survey questionnaire, which was answered by 105 managers of Slovenian ICT companies. They consider the company's capabilities to be the most decisive factor. In the future, according to the surveyed companies, the most important internal export performance factor will be the company’s characteristics. Based on the obtained results, we analysed which activities companies should prioritise, how they should allocate their resources and plan a strategy. In the empirical part of the thesis, we also compared the size of the ICT sector exports with total exports. We found that, in the period from 2014 to 2019 (the period after the crisis), the share of ICT exports in total Slovenian exports averaged 1.99%. In this period, the average annual growth of exports in the ICT sector was 0.75 percentages lower than the average annual growth of total Slovenian exports.
