Title:Variabilnost čeljustnice in spodnjih meljakov pri Prometheomys schaposchnikowi: pristop z geometrijsko morfometrijo

Abstract:V magistrski nalogi sem z metodami geometrijske morfometrije ovrednotila morfometrično variabilnost mandibule in spodnjih meljakov pri prometejevi voluharici (Prometheomys schaposchnikowi). V analizo je bilo vključenih 186 primerkov mandibul in 204 primerki spodnjih meljakov iz različnih muzejskih zbirk. Analizirala sem sekundarni spolni dimorfizem, ontogenetsko variabilnost in geografsko variabilnost. Na mandibuli sem določila 14 oslonilnih točk, na spodnjih meljakih pa 32 oslonilnih točk, ki sem jih dalje uporabila v morfometrični analizi z uni- in multivariatnimi statističnimi metodami. Sekundarni spolni dimorfizem ni bil izražen niti v velikosti niti obliki mandibule ali spodnjih meljakov. Pri preverjanju ontogenetske variabilnosti sem ugotovila, da se juvenilni osebki razlikujejo od odraslih v velikosti, saj imajo manjšo mandibulo in spodnje meljake. Do razlik pa prihaja tudi v obliki mandibule in obliki spodnjih meljakov. Na mandibuli mladih in odraslih osebkov so odstopanja od povprečne oblike vidna tako v alveolni regiji (regija z zobmi) kot tudi na zadnjem delu manidbule. Odstopanja od povprečne oblike so opazna tudi na spodnjih meljakih mladih in odraslih osebkov. Preverila sem še geografsko variabilnost v velikosti in obliki mandbule in spodnjih meljakov ter ugotovila, da se osebki z območja Malega Kavkaza razlikujejo od ostalih (Severni in Veliki Kavkaz) v velikosti mandibule in spodnjih meljakov. Do manjših odstopanj od povprečne oblike pa prihaja tudi v obliki mandibule in spodnjih meljakov.

Title:Variability of the mandibles and lower molars of the Prometheomys schaposchnikowi: geometric morphometric approach
Abstract:Using the methods of geometric morphometry, I assessed the morphometric variability of the mandible and lower molars of the long-clawed mole vole (Prometheomys schaposchnikowi). The analysis included 186 mandible samples and 204 lower molar samples from different musseum collections. I analyzed the secondary sexual dimorphism, the ontogenetic and geographic variability. On each of the analyzed mandibuls I determinated 14 landmarks, and 32 on each of the analysed lower molars. After determining landmarks the univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted. Because no secondary sexual dimorphism was detected, both genders were condidered together in the continuation of the study. After examining the onthogenetic variability in the size of the mandible and lower molars, I found out that juvenile specimens are different from the others, because they have a smaller mandible and lower molars. There are also differents in shape of mandible and lower molars. On the mandible of juvenile and adult specimens differents are visible in both regions (alveolar and posterior region). Deviations are also noticeable on the lower molars of juvenile and adult specimens. In the following, I checked the geographic variability in the size and shape of the mandible and lower molars, where I found that specimens from the area of the Lesser Caucasus are different from the others (North Caucasus and Greater Caucasus) in the size of the mandible and lower molars. Minor deviations from the average shape also occur in the form of the mandible and lower molars.
