Abstract:Droge so danes globalen problem.

Title:The role of the school in the social exclusion of drug users
Abstract:Drugs are a global problem today. Due to the increasing prevalence of drugs, they are consequently quite common among adolescents. Drugs are easily accessible today, the supply and variety of drugs is extensive, and young people are increasingly resorting to drugs. We have found that drug use, due to its effects on the body, is closely associated with the learning ability, and consequently, with school results. The authors also state that drug addicts are often marginalized and stigmatized. The master's thesis focuses on the connection between the drug use among high school youth in Slovenia and their marginalization. We investigated the social exclusion of drug users and their school performance and examined preventative measures, since they are very important in schools. The survey used interviews of (former) drug users, interviews with counselors at Slovenian secondary schools and with the counselor of the ArsVitae Society, which helps drug users. Findings and theoretical assumptions testify that most adolescents encounter drugs for the first time during schooling, among peers. As we grow up, peer pressure becomes influential, and especially strong when it comes to drug use, however, peers unfortunately do not have a positive preventative influence regarding the drug use. We have also established that it is crucial what type of drug an individual uses, as well as in what quantities and how often. All this has an impact on social exclusion and learning performance. However, in general, for the most part, drug users have poorer educational achievements, while marginalization is not so evident in secondary schools, as adolescents usually manage to hide their drug addiction. Examples of severe addiction where problems would be clearly visible are rather rare. The school, as an educational institution, can have a significant impact on adolescent drug use through its preventative measures. The school is also a place where adolescents spend most of their time, forming peer groups, where they usually first come into contact with drugs as well as with marginalization. Through its prevention programs and activities in the field of social exclusion, the school can help raise awareness of drug abuse among adolescents, as well as about stigma and marginalization related to drug addicts.
