Abstract:Na svetu je veliko število organizacij, ki se zavzemajo za globalni mir in zagotavljanje varnosti. Nekatere izmed njih delujejo že dlje časa, so vplivne, relativno uspešne in učinkovite. Vsekakor so najvplivnejše in najbolj znane tiste mednarodne organizacije, v katerih sodeluje večje število držav. Ena od mednarodnih organizacij, ki je v današnjem času relativno pomembna je Organizacija islamskega sodelovanja, ki ima hkrati verski in politični značaj. Verski značaj ji zagotavlja dejstvo, da gre za organizacijo, v katero so vključene islamske države ali tiste, ki same sebe smatrajo za takšne. Organizacija deluje na številnih področjih, diplomsko delo pa se osredotoča predvsem na njene aktivnosti, ki so povezane z zagotavljanjem varnosti, z bojem proti terorizmu, verskim ekstremizmom, skratka na dejavnosti, ki ogrožajo človekovo zelo pomembno vrednoto – varnost. Organizacija je vpeta tudi v mednarodno politično okolje, saj je sogovornik Organizacije združenih narodov, Evropske unije in ZDA. Kljub različnim vrednotam, načinu življenja in religijam, med državljani držav Organizacije islamskega sodelovanja in državljani zahodnega sveta obstajajo dialog, sodelovanje in skupno prizadevanje za globalni mir. Med vsemi akterji, ki si prizadevajo za ustvarjanje miru in varnosti, se neredko pojavijo različna mnenja o razlogih za pojav terorizma, verskega ekstremizma, oboroženih konfliktov in drugih oblik nasilja, zato sta dialog in sodelovanje še toliko bolj pomembna. Države članice Organizacije islamskega sodelovanja so v svojih številnih dokumentih do sedaj sprejele številne ukrepe proti terorizmu. Vsaj nekatere sprejete ukrepe v praksi tudi udejanjajo z aktivnostmi, ki preprečujejo nastajanje terorizma, zlorabo vere, z opozarjanjem na pojave, ki prispevajo k terorizmu in z drugimi aktivnostmi, ki so namenjene zagotavljanju miru. Pri tovrstnih aktivnostih države članice vsaj na načelni ravni sodelujejo med seboj in z akterji izven same organizacije. Kljub temu, pa zaradi različnih razlogov, nekateri sprejeti ukrepi ostanejo samo na papirju in ne prispevajo k zagotavljanju varnosti.

Title:Organisation of Islamic Cooperation as Factor of Stability and Peace
Abstract:There are many organizations in the world that are committed to global peace and security. Some of them have been operating for a long time, are influential, relatively successful and effective. In any case, the most influential and best-known are those in which a large number of countries participate. The main topic of this dissertation is the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which, simultaneously, has a religious and political character. Its religious character is guaranteed by the fact that it is an organization that includes Islamic states or those which consider themselves such. This organisation is international, relatively important in the present times, and works in many areas. This dissertation speaks primarily of its activities related to ensuring security, and of the fight against terrorism and religious extremism; in short, about activities that endanger a person's very important value – safety. Organization is also positioned in international political environment and it is interlocutor with of the United Nations, the European Union and the United States. Despite the different values, different way of life and different religions between the citizens of the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the citizens of the Western world, there is dialogue, cooperation and a joint effort for global peace. The opinions of security actors on the causes of acts of violence, such as terrorism, religious extremism, armed conflicts and other forms of violence, therefore are dialog and cooperation even more important. Member states of Islamic organization for cooperation were accepted many measures against terrorism in their documents. At least some of measures in practice realize with activities witch prevent formation of terrorism, abuse of religion, alert and appear on action who contribute to terrorism and other activities which are intended, ensure to provide peace. With those activities state members at least on principle level participate inside organization and with actors outside of organization. Despite of different reasons some taken measures stay only on paper and do not contribute to ensure global security.
