Abstract:Magistrsko delo predstavlja izvedbo numeričnih simulacij sipkega materiala med procesom suhe granulacije v odprtokodnem programskem paketu LIGGGHTS-PUBLIC 3.6.0.

Title:Numerical analysis of granular material transport in dry granulation process
Abstract:Master's Thesis presents an implementation of numerical simulations of bulk materials during the dry granulation process in the open source software package LIGGGHTS-PUBLIC 3.6.0. The emphasis is on the development of a numerical model, settings, assumptions and the use of appropriate boundary conditions, which enable the execution of numerical simulations. Using the laboratory experiment and numerical simulations, which are based on the discrete element method, the material properties and interaction parameters for a mixture of powders and other materials that are in contact with the powder were determined. A large number of numerical simulations of the dry granulation process were carried out, where we were changing the spacing between the cylinders, the number of auger revolutions and the number of cylinders revolutions. Based on the measured pre-compaction densities, equations are generated and they can be used for analytical calculations of pre-compaction densities for desired operating parameters of roller compactor.
