Abstract:Vedno ostrejši predpisi na področju ekologije in z varovanjem okolja povezani stroški, javno mnenje, zahteva po ustreznem informiranju ter povečana odgovornost so v podjetjih sprožile potrebo po izboljšanju managementa na področju ekologije. Ta cilj dosežemo z uporabo standardov ISO 14001, ki omogočajo razvoj modelov, po katerih lahko podjetja nadzorujejo takojšnje in dolgoročne vplive na okolje. Krovni standard tega sistema je ISO 14001, ki ga je sprejel ameriški nacionalni inštitut za standardizacijo in omogoča postavitev ustreznega sistema za ravnanje z okoljem EMS. Podjetja uporabljajo EMS sistem, da bi razvila ustrezno načrtovanje, izvajanje in nadzorovanje dejavnosti in s tem zadostila okoljevarstvenim standardom ob ugodnih ekonomskih kazalcih. Ustrezna uporaba ISO 14001 oz. EMS sistema nedvoumno vodi k prepoznavanju in odobravanju kupcev, dobaviteljev, investitorjev, vladnih organizacij ter javnosti. Znižani stroški pa seveda pomenijo mnogo boljši položaj na trgu.

Title:Environment protection and standardization with emphasis on environmental management system ISO 14001
Abstract:Escalating environmental compliance and remediation costs, public disclosure of environmental performance information, and increasing liability concerns have created a need for companies to improve the management of their environmental responsibilities. This goal is achievable by applying ISO 14000 standards that provide models for organizations to use to control their immediate and long-term environmental impacts. The core standard of this system is ISO 14001, which has been published and accepted by American National Standard Institute and provides the requirements for establishing an environmental management system EMS. The company uses its EMS to establish its level of environmental commitment, develop plans, programs, and controls on a cost effective way. ISO 14001 system will undoubtedly benefit from the recognition and acceptance it receives from customers, suppliers, investors, government and public. The cost reductions achieved will allow it to operate on a much more secure competitive basis.
