Abstract:
Poleg očiščenja odpadne vode smo želeli ugotoviti morebitno uporabnost sedimenta, nastalega v procesu koagulacije. Želeli smo najti optimalno koncentracijo naravnega koagulanta in optimalni začetni pH koagulacije.

Title:
Lowering the levels of the substances in dairy wastewater
Abstract:
The purpose of the master's work was to determine whether coagulation using natural coagulants that do not have adverse effects on the environment, can compete with coagulation with synthetic commercial coagulants. We wanted to determine whether water quality from the dairy company Pomurske Mlekarne d. d. after coagulation in combination with further nanofiltration meet the standards for reuse of treated waste water. In addition, we wanted to determine the potential usefulness of the sediment formed in the coagulation process. We wanted to find the optimal dose of the natural coagulant, as well as the optimal initial pH of the coagulation. We conducted the following physico - chemical measurements: turbidity, pH, spectral absorption coefficient, content of suspended particles, content of dissolved particles and organic matter content, expressed as a chemical oxygen demand - COD. Based on the results of physico - chemical parameters, we found a reduction of suspended particles, which is in line with the reduction of turbidity after the coagulation, as well as after the nanofiltration. We have reached a sufficient reduction of COD, which satisfy the limit values of the Republic of Slovenia for release into the sewage system or into the environment. The reduction in COD was 98,5 % after nanofiltration. We observed a trend of increase of ammonium ions after coagulation with chitosan at a pH of 4, which we assigned to the functional compounds of chitosan in the acidic range as of NH3+ groups are formed, which contribute to the detection of the ammonium ions. It can be concluded that the use of combination of coagulation with the natural coagulant chitosan and nanofiltration for purification of waste water in the dairy company Pomurske Mlekarne d. d. with purpose of reuse is reasonable.
