Abstract:Ugotavljali smo ekonomsko upravičenost pridelavo zelenjave na domačem samooskrbnem vrtu velikosti 60m2.

Title:Economic viability of vegetables production in a self-sufficient garden
Abstract:The aim of this paper was to determine the economic viability of growing vegetables in a 60 m2 private, self-sufficient garden. Using a calculation it attempted to show what vegetable yield a four-member family could achieve in a season and the savings this could bring them. A four-year crop rotation was created for the garden, which included a maximum variety of mostly indigenous vegetable crops. The whole production process was ecological. Between April and December, approximately 265 kg of vegetables were produced with the total market value of around EUR 781,50. This means that approximately 1 kg of fresh vegetables was produced every day with total costs of the season amounting to EUR 768,29 and bringing a four-member family savings to EUR 13,21 in this period. This confirms and proves the hypothesis that this kind of self-sufficient production pays off for a family.
