Abstract:
Digitalizacija in arhiviranje sta procesa, s katerima analogne fotografije pretvorimo v digitalne in jih nato arhiviramo z namenom daljšega hranjenja in lažjega dostopa. Oba postopka sta ključna pri ohranjanju kulturne dediščine. V teoretičnem delu diplomske naloge smo podali jasno razlago vseh korakov digitalizacije in arhiviranja, od načrtovanja do ohranjanja arhiva za daljši čas. S pridobljenim znanjem smo izpeljali projekt digitalizacije dela osebnega arhiva, pri čemer smo bili soočeni s praktičnim delom in izbiro pomembnih dejavnikov, kot so formati, velikost fotografij, ravnanje s fotografijami, izbira medijev za shranjevanje in podobno.

Title:
Digitalization and preservation of photographic collection
Abstract:
Digitalization and preservation are processes by which we turn analog photographs into digital ones and archive them for long-term preservation and easier access. Both parts of the project are crucial in preservation of the cultural heritage. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on explanation of all the important steps in digitizing and preserving of materials, from planning to preserving archives over the long term. With the acquired knowledge we carried out a project of digitization of a personal archive, where we were faced with the practical work and selection of the important factors, such as formats, photo sizes, handling of photos, choosing appropriate storage media etc.
