Abstract:

Title:
THROUGH ART AND TECHNOLOGY TOWARDS NEW WAYS OF EXPERIENCING ART
Abstract:
The diploma thesis has been led by three questions: what is happening in the field of experiencing art and art works; which ways of accessing these are offered to users today; and what is the role of technology and contemporary art practice in this process. During the initial search for answers to the aforementioned questions, multisensory experiencing was placed alongside the paradigm of the visual in fine art. Contemporary art practices and the use of technology were emphasised as two additional moments for creating new paths to accessing and experiencing art. We presumed that technology solutions, which today offer creative possibilities at the intersection of science and art, would in the future contribute towards transformation of art spaces and the relations between them and their users. Pogačar’s project was used to showcase a different modernday cultural institution and, within a vision of the future, to highlight the meaning of participation and collaboration as a part of the idea of an opensource cultural institution. By showing specific examples we were able to highlight creative implementations and different ways of experiencing art as offered by modernday cultural institutions to their users. We introduced our own idea of a hybrid web interface as a synthesis and an answer to everything aforementioned. The interface in question would create a common space for new ways of experiencing art, open paths for the use of technology and contemporary approaches, as well as integrate and connect different groups of users through participation and collaboration.
