Abstract:
V današnjem multikulturnem oz. večjezičnem svetu pridobiva zgodnje učenje vsaj enega tujega jezika v predšolskem obdobju vedno več zagovornikov, ne le s strani strokovnjakov, temveč tudi staršev. Poučevanje tujega jezika v tako zgodnjem obdobju otrokovega razvoja seveda zahteva poseben pristop. Večina strokovnjakov danes priporoča predvsem dve metodi: t. i. naravni pristop in metodo celostnega telesnega odziva. Namen naloge je podrobneje predstaviti te pristope, s praktično izvedbo ugotoviti njihovo stopnjo učinkovitosti in poudariti pomen zgodnjega usvajanja tujega jezika, in sicer skozi pripovedovanje zgodbic v ciljnem jeziku, v tem primeru v angleščini. Posvetiti sem se želela predvsem otrokom, njihovemu doživljanju, dojemanju in odzivanju na neznane vsebine ter morebitnim težavam pri usvajanju novega znanja.

Title:
Play to learn - storytelling in english as a foreign language for kindergarten
Abstract:
In today´s multicultural and plurilingual world early language learning at the pre-school stage is considered a necessity by the experts, as well as the parents. Teaching a foreign language at such an early stage naturally requires special approaches. Most experts encourage the so-called Natural Approach and the Total Physical Response (TPR) method. The purpose of this paper is to present these and to test them in a kindergarten classroom to find out how efficient they are and consequently, to emphasize the advantages of early language learning by storytelling in the target language, i. e. English in this case. I wanted to focus on the children, their perception and comprehension, as well as reactions to the unknown and possible difficulties they may have while acquiring new knowledge.
