Abstract:Teoretična izhodišča: Za najboljši možni izid zdravljenja življenjsko ogroženih pacientov je potreben tim, v katerem so vsi zaposleni visoko strokovno usposobljeni, vodje pa odlikujejo sposobnosti načrtovanja, organiziranja in nadzorovanja dela, pa tudi motiviranja, komuniciranja in konstruktivnega reševanja problemov.

Title:QUALITY SCORE OF TEAM LEADERS IN THE INTENSIVE CARE DEPARTMENT
Abstract:Theoretical background: For the best possible outcome of the treatment of critically ill patients, a team of highly qualified employees is required in which the team leaders necessarily possess the ability to plan, organize and control work, as well as motivate, communicate and encourage constructive problem solving. At the same time they need to be reliable, well-equipped with emotional intelligence and highly emphatic as they should set a good example for all other employees. The purpose of this master thesis is to show the quality of leaders and their leadership at the Department of Intensive Internal Medicine. Research Methodology: The quantitative methodology has been used to acquire the result for this thesis. The research has been carried out on a sample which included all employees in the Department of Intensive Internal Medicine, General Hospital Celje, (14 in a care team, 9 nursing team leaders and 6 doctors). The survey was anonymous. The participants completed the survey online on a Google Forms web page. Data were statistically analysed using SPSS 13.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA) by methods One-way analysis of variance, Independent Sample T-test, Paired Samples T-test and Chi-square test, depending on the nature of the variables. A statistically significant difference was defined at the level of p <0.05. The research was being carried out in February 2015. Results: According to the employees the most important managing skill has turned out to be work organisation. Among features exposed as significant in the leaders are reliability and self-criticism, whereas honesty, responsibility and reliability are ranked as the highest rated characteristics. The majority of the employees at the workplace is most satisfied with the work itself. Among motivational factors which leaders cannot control (salary and working conditions), employees are least satisfied with their salaries. Regarding factors on which leaders have some impact, they are least satisfied with the work climate within the team. The majority believes that the team leaders properly lead and supervise the work and a number of other features that distinguish a good leader have been highly rated as well. Conclusion: Research results show that the skills and qualities considered by the staff as necessary for good governance are well expressed. The management can therefore be evaluated as quite good. Relatively low satisfaction with the work climate within the team could be improved with proper communication and measures designed to improve working conditions.
