Abstract:Diplomski projekt zajema predstavitev in proučevanje pisem predsednikov uprav v letnih poročilih slovenskih javnih družb.

Title:Readability of the Letter to Shareholders in Annual Reports of Slovenian Public Companies
Abstract:The diploma project comprises the presentation and study of letters to shareholders in the annual reports of Slovenian public companies. The letter to shareholders is a component of the annual report that is not legally defined. In it, the chairman of the board makes a brief presentation of the business operations so far and the company’s opportunities and plans for the future. Since the letter to shareholders is probably a part of the annual report that is highly read by the wider public, it is very important that it is easily readable as well as comprehensible. The second and third chapters represent the theoretical part of the diploma project. In chapter two, the definition, content and purpose of a letter to shareholders is presented in detail. While in chapter three the definition of readability, the factors that effect readability, and the Flesch formula, which measures the readability of a text, are described. The fourth and fifth chapters represent the practical part of the diploma project. The fourth chapter comprises the study of letters to shareholders in the annual reports of Slovenian public companies. We studied the readability of a text using the Flesch formula, which is very popular among experts due to its objectivity. The fifth chapter comprises the additional study of letters to shareholders, which refers to the study of the length and non-linguistic elements in letters to shareholders in the annual reports of Slovenian public companies.
