Abstract:Diplomsko delo z naslovom »Lastna podoba in njena recepcija« obravnava analizo naslikane lastne podobe (avtoportret) kot likovnega motiva in se naslanja na formalno likovni, umetnostnozgodovinski in socialnopsihološki vidik.

Title:SELF-PORTRAIT AND ITS RECEPTION
Abstract:Diploma thesis entitled “Self-portrait and its reception” deals with the analysis of painted self-image (self-portrait) as a motif and leans on the formal art, art history and social-psychological aspect. Represented and analyzed paint self-portraits reflect artist’s physical and character traits, while the usage of color palette, way of brush strokes, composition, space, morphology and iconography show the art style and reflection of time. Self-portrait is a motif, where the portrayed person and portrait painter are the same person, so the observation of this particular motif is more difficult, because the cues for observation are slightly significant than the one of the portrait. Distinctive indicators of self-portrait image are: paint stand, palette, brush, mirror and artist’s eyes, which are motif’s special feature. The art history labels “self- portrait glance”, that has often helped to discover painters’ images in the large composition. This glance cannot be hidden even when the artist depicts himself on the canvas. Self-portrait glance cannot escape to the spectator the same as the artist cannot run away from himself and his own mirror image. A self-portrait is an image, where the artist’s life is written and is alive forever.
