Abstract:V diplomskem delu smo predstavili enoto intenzivne terapije.

Title:NURSES' DUTIES IN AN INTENSIVE THERAPY UNIT
Abstract:The diploma work on hand is a presentation of intensive care unit. It describes duties and role of nurses in the process thru importance of team work. We also focus on the burn – out syndrome phenomenon among nurses and present the methods for preventing or eliminated it. The purpose of diploma was to present intensive care unit and nurse´s duties. Additionally, we used the descriptive method of work to collect data for the purpose of diploma. In search of literature we found various domestic and foreign data that allowed us to determent theoretical principles. From analysis domestic and foreign literature we came to conclusion that the work of nurses in the intensive care unit requires high-level knowledge, total dedication, mentally and physically to the work with a lot of good will. Nurses have to have a lot of experiences with that line of work plus personality traits as: the quality of quick thinking and decision making, good judgment calls and accuracy. Nurses are at big risk to develop symptoms associated to phenomenon of burn-out syndrome if we consider the pressure of workload, the conflicts that appear among co-workers, working long hour shifts and other working conditions. Nurse has to continually educate and improve in order to be up to the job at all times and to master all professional duties which requires total dedication to the work. It is expected that they caries moral responsibility for human life and health. And because the work of a nurse is so demanding, it has to be in her interest to protect her mental and physical health from exhaustion.
