Abstract:Namen diplomske naloge je vzpostaviti analitičen odnos do modne fotografije kot najpogostejše oblike modne predstavitve in njene specifične navezave na umetnost. V teh metodah sem obdelala besedila avtorjev s tematskega področja prepleta mode in umetnosti, zgodovine modne fotografije in zgodovine specifičnih umetniških obdobij. Opisala, analizirala in primerjala sem modne fotografije, umetniška dela in različne sovpadajoče umetniške smeri, oblike modnih predstavitev, ki pač vključujejo umetniške prakse.

Title:ART PRACTICES AND DEVELOPMENT OF FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY
Abstract:It is the purpose of this thesis to establish an analytical approach towards fashion photography as the most frequent form of the presentation of fashion and its specific reference to art. I intend to show how modern fashion photography through its historical development has moved away from a basic representation of the function of fashionable garments and entered an artistic context; how it became emancipated and found its way into modern art museums and galleries. The content of the thesis is based on descriptive, historical, comparative methods, the method of analysis and synthesis, and the method of abstraction and concretisation. By the use of these methods, I have considered authorial texts from the field of fashion and art interlacement, the history of fashion photography and the specific historical art periods. I have described, analysed and compared fashion photographs, art works and various coinciding art directions, as well as forms of fashion presentation that include artistic practices. I gave added value to the subject from many years of personal experience working with magazines and independent institutions in the field of fashion and art. In my thesis, I have incorporated a global view of fashion photography, while I drew the material from the current production of mainstream and independent fashion magazines. The present discussion within this thesis shows that the influence of authorial expression in fashion photography and the conscious inclusion of art practices into the fashion industry (presentations) has led to an emancipation of fashion photography and a fading of the boundaries between commercial and artistic work.
