Abstract:
V seminarju obravnavamo modeliranje regulacije krvnega sladkorja. Predstavimo dva modela. Minimalni model zajema koncentraciji glukoze in inzulina v krvni plazmi in aktivnost inzulina v medcelični tekočini. V kompleksnejšem modelu je kot modelna spremenljivka upoštevan tudi glukagon, ki sistemu omogoča vrnitev v stacionarno stanje po kratkotrajnem dvigu ravni glukoze v krvni plazmi. Predstavljene so simulacije različnih stanj, v katerih se lahko nahaja biološki sistem: hiperglikemija, glukozni šok in diabetes. Simuliran je tudi časovni potek koncentracij glukoze, inzulina in drugih modelnih spremenljivk po zaužitju raznih obrokov.

Title:
Modeling of blood sugar regulation
Abstract:
In the seminar we study models of blood sugar regulation. Two models are presented. The minimal model considers plasma glucose and insulin concentration as well as interstitial insulin activity. The upgraded model additionally includes glucagon as a system variable which enables the system to recover to the steady state after the transient rise of glucose concentrations in the blood plasma. Different states of biological system are presented and discussed in the seminar: hyperglicemia, glucose shock and diabetes. We also simulate the time evolution of concentrations of blood glucose, insulin and other model variables after consumed meal.
