Abstract:

Title:
Artificial airway and mechanical ventilation
Abstract:
In this diploma paper we describe respiration and mechanical ventilation. We also describe work and various specific tasks of nursing in the treatment of patients with artificial respiration and mechanical ventilation. In this diploma paper we used the descriptive method of work. To write and complete this certificate of qualification we used Slovene and foreign literature with which we presented the theoretical background. This survey was based on the quantitative methodology of work. We conducted a study, data and all other information was gathered with questionnaires. We surveyed health care providers who are employed at the Department of Intensive Care at the University Medical Center Maribor. The survey results confirmed that all the medical care and nursing staff are taking measures to prevent different hospital infections that are associated and connected with artificial respiration and mechanical ventilation. We also looked into all the standard activities of medical care and medical staff. We also realized that aspiration of nasal secretions and control of artificial respiration are the most important tasks of the medical care staff. Complications associated with artificial respiration and mechanical ventilation rarely occure. Nursing personnel is familiar with all the medical equipment and its usage that is provided to maintain regular, normal breathing and mechanical ventilation. Medical staff is also informed on all the latest information and guidelines for maintenance of artificial respiration and medical ventilation.
