Abstract:
Pridobljene podatke smo statistično obdelali s programom SPSS in jih analizirali z metodo analize frekvenc, križnimi tabelami in inferenčnim statističnima testom (Mann-Whitneyev test, neparametrični statistični test za primerjavo povprečja dveh neodvisnih vzorcev). Za izvedbo kvalitativne analize podatkov smo uporabili SWOT analitično metodo. Rezultati raziskave. Sklep. Uporaba elektronskega zdravstvenega zapisa omogoča izboljšanje beleženja, spremljanja, analiziranja in odločanja izvajalcev zdravstvene nege in oskrbe ter prikazuje in meri "nevidno" zdravstveno nego in oskrbo.

Title:
NURSES OPINIONS ON THE USE OF ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORD
Abstract:
Theoretical background. In health care systems, information communication technology represents one of the basic tools which, combined with organizational changes and the development of new skills, can contribute to a more efficient development, greater efficiency and productivity, better accessibility and improved quality of work. The use of electronic health record makes the work of healthcare professionals easier, and provides them with a faster access to necessary information. The aim of this study was to compare the Finnish and Slovenian nurses’ attitudes on the use of electronic health record, on the strengths and weaknesses in both countries, and to draw attention to problems in both countries and suggest improvements. Research Methodology. The study was conducted in two institutions, namely the University Medical Centre in Maribor, and Kuopio University Hospital, Finland. The research sample consisted of 81 nurses and was based on a quantitative and qualitative methodology where opinions were collected by a questionnaire. The obtained data were statistically analyzed by using the SPSS program for analysis of frequencies, cross tables and inferential statistical test (Mann-Whitney test, nonparametric statistical test to compare the average of two independent samples). For qualitative data analysis, we used the SWOT analytical method. Research results. The results of the research, in which we confirmed the hypothesis and answered the research questions, showed differences in opinions on the use of electronic health record held by Slovenian and Finnish nurses. The differences can be attributed to the fact that nurses in Finland have been using the electronic medical record which includes nursing documentation for almost a decade, while in Slovenia, various information systems are being used which do not offer the possibility of documenting all of the tasks and duties performed by nurses. Conclusion. The use of electronic health record makes it possible for the providers of nursing care to improve recording, monitoring, analysis and decision-making, and shows the extent of the "invisible" care. It is necessary, therefore, that nurses become actively involved in the selection, design and implementation of information system, which will lead to improved quality and effectiveness of work.
