Title:Roman sites in the Savinja river basin
Abstract:In the Graduation Thesis Roman sites in the Savinja river basin I gathered and presented all of the Roman sites, which are located in the Savinja river basin. In the Thesis the gathered sites are described in greater details, especially findings and photo material was added, where that was possible. The Romans have left a big mark in the territory of modern Slovenia. In many places there are still visible remains of the Roman legacy. A lot of them were found in the Savinja river basin and the Savinja Valley, which I focused on in my Graduation Thesis. A big Roman graveyard was discovered in Šempeter in Savinja Valley, in Ločica near Polzela there was a camp of the Second Italic Legion, in Vransko there was a brickworks and the most important Celeia, as the town of Noricum province. These are only the most important sites of the many in the Savinja river basin. The Romans were also known by the construction of roads, remains of which were found in a very similar layout as today's regional highway Celje – Ljubljana is directed. Roman architecture was very perfective, which is evident from the archeological findings. Tombstones in Roman necropolis in Šempeter and tomb tablets found in Celje are very beautiful and mighty. Milestones found along the roads from Trojane to Celje and Ptuj are also known. Among the objects found the dominated are grave additions, tombstones, jewelry, architectural remains and Roman coins.
