Abstract:Diplomsko delo govori o pripravljenosti deklet na prvo menstruacijo.

Title:GIRLS' PREPAREDNESS FOR FIRST PERIOD
Abstract:In my thesis I write about the readiness of girls for their first menstruation. In the theoretical part I described the term puberty and focused on the puberty at girls, anatomy of female sexual organs and described the menstrual cycle. I point out also the role of parents, teachers and nurses in teaching the girls about menstruation. In the empirical part I present the results of the questionnaire survey, which was conducted by anonymous questionnaires on a sample of 63 female pupils of the Primary School Šmartno pri Slovenj Gradcu. For these females we supposed that they did not have their first menstruation yet. The objective of the survey was to establish how much the girls are aware of menstruation and if due to lack of awareness they have wrong idea about the menstruation. I also wanted to find out what role play the parents, teachers and nurses in teaching the girls about menstruation. The survey showed that awareness about first menstruation is low and because of these girls have wrong idea about menstruation. Although most girls get their first information about menstruation from their parents, they still do not talk with them enough about this. I also established that the role of teachers and nurses is not significant enough.
