Title:IMPACT OF REMOTE CONTROL TRAINS ON RAIL SAFETY
Abstract: Technological process of railway traffic management is largely dependent on the status of public railway infrastructure. Due to outdated signalling and telecommunications equipment on the public railway infrastructure in Slovenia, the station guidance is still predominant. This manner of guidance is based on a large number of inter-communications between people from different fields, which are directly or indirectly related to the safe running of trains. Due to outdated techniques and technologies the man continues to be a key decision maker in the management of railway traffic. To partially lighten the burden of the executive railway workers and reduce the impact of the so-called human factor, which adversely affects the safety of railway traffic, we need to make some changes. It is therefore necessary to modernize the railway system for the management and control of trains, which requires the installation of modern signalling and telecommunications equipment. Setting up centres for remote monitoring and control of trains reduces the influence of human factor in the decision as a routine part of running railways which increases the safety of railway traffic.
