Abstract:Polnila se v proizvodnji izdelkov iz fenol formaldehidnih smol uporabljajo že od samega začetka. Kompoziti, v katerih je vezivo fenol formaldehidna smola, najdejo dandanes zelo velike uporabne možnosti. V proizvodnji smolno vezanih brusov polnila že dolgo več ne opravljajo svojega prvotnega namena, zniževanja stroškov z zamenjavo dragih nedostopnih surovin, temveč z njimi pripomoremo končnim proizvodom z nekaterimi dodatnimi lastnostmi. Pokazalo se je, da določena polnila pripomorejo k izboljšanju brusnih/reznih lastnosti, druga pa k večji varnosti izdelkov, saj povečujejo elastičnost in trdnost. Proizvodnja izdelkov, ki temeljijo na točno določenih specifikacijah, je možno izdelovati s prisotnostjo polnil. Večinoma polnila prinesejo le določeno lastnost, zato za doseganje več lastnosti uporabljamo kombinacije polnil. Poznavanje polnil in njihov vpliv na lastnosti izdelkov je ključen za uporabo le teh. Poleg izbora polnil ima velik vpliv tudi njihova količina. Za ugotavljanje vpliva polnil in njihove medsebojne primerljivosti, so pomembne metode testiranja in vzorčenja, ki pregledno predstavljajo bazo podatkov polnil. Na trg polnil prihajajo vedno novejša polnila, za katere so metode testiranja opisane v diplomskem delu, primerne za medsebojno primerljivost z do sedaj znanimi polnili. Izbrana polnila so pokazala sposobnost izboljševanja mehanskih lastnosti izdelkov, tako trdnosti, elastičnosti, kakor tudi izboljševanje brusno/reznih sposobnosti. Med testiranimi polnili je najbolj obetaven kriolit, ki je rezne sposobnosti povečal za faktor štiri, v primerjavi z izdelkom brez polnil.

Title:EFFECT OF FILLERS ON THE STRENGTH, ELASTICITY AND CUTTING ABILITY OF THE COMPOSITES BY CROSSLINKING PHENOL FORMALDEHYDE RESINS IN THE MANUFACTURE OF RESIN BONDED GRINDING WHEELS
Abstract:Fillers have been used in the manufacturinge of products made from phenol-formaldehyde resins from the beginning. Nowadays, composites made from phenol-formaldehyde resin offer numerous useful options. In the manufacture of resin bonded grinding wheels fillers no longer perform its original purpose - reducing costs by replacing expensive and inaccessible materials - but help by adding some additional property(es) to the final product. It has been shown that certain fillers can help to improve the grinding/cut-off characteristics, while others improve the safety of products, because they increase the elasticity and strength. The manufacture of products based on specific specifications can be performed by presence of fillers. Most of the fillers carry only a certain characteristic, therefore we use a combination of fillers to achieve a number of properties. Knowledge of fillers and their influence on the properties of products is essential for its use. Besides the selection of fillers, their quantity has a major impact as well. Methods of testing and sampling, which are presented in the database of filler characteristics, are essential in determining the effect of fillers and the comparability between them. The test methods described in the paper are suitable for the comparison between the already known fillers and the new fillers coming on the market. The selected fillers have shown the ability to improve mechanical properties of the products, namely the strength, elasticity, as well as improving the grinding/cut-off capacity. The most promising among the tested fillers is Cryolite, which increased the grinding capacity by a factor of four compared to the product without fillers.
