Title:MANAGERS AND THEIR CHARACTERISTICS
Abstract:Management is a complex process that takes place in phases and is aimed at solving problems and thereby achieving the objectives of an organization. There is a lot of literature describing the methods and styles of management the features of which are based on behavioral characteristics of managers. Through the diploma thesis we find out that management is more effective if it is based on trust, respect and fairness. It gets even moer efficent if managers are able to motivate their employees and give them the necessary freedom to perform their work and if they appreciate the job well done. In this thesis we describe the characteristics that should gualify a good manager and the styles and management techniques which can hepl us find good managers. A manager is the most important member in the organization because he is the person who creates a vision for the organization and employees. He has to be able to trade and sell, to acquire business, to solve problems and to take care of employees ( support at work, respect proposals, notice and praise a job well-done …). All that been written about managers there still is no right definition which would describe a good manager. Each of them is unique with his / her own personal characteristics and knowledge yet they should all always be ready for new challenges. Thus management remains a complex process between themselves, the needs and objectives of the organization and the external environment.
