Abstract:Osmerozobi smrekov lubadar (Ips typographus L.) je med podlubniki eden najpomembnejših škodljivcev navadne smreke [Picea abies (L.) H. Karst] v Evropi. Dovzetnost dreves za škodljivce je v veliki meri odvisna od sistemsko pridobljene odpornosti (SAR). Ta izzove kvalitativne in kvantitativne spremembe v kemični sestavi gostitelja in predstavlja trajnejši način obrambe. Nadalje, tretiranje s SK, je zakasnilo degradacijo skupnih fenolov oz. privedlo do aklimatizacije obrambnega odgovora skupnih fenolov. Ugotovili smo, da obrambni odgovor skupnih fenolov na napad podlubnikov ustreza splošnemu ekofiziološkemu konceptu.

Title:Effect of salicylic acid on concentrations of total phenolics in the bark of Norway spruce [Picea abies (L.) H. Karst] during the bark beetle attack (Ips typographus L.)
Abstract:Ips typographus L. is one of the most frequent pests of the Norway spruce [Picea abies (L.) H. Karst] in Europe. Any adaptive plasticity against invading organisms depends on the systemic acquired resistance (SAR). It triggers qualitative and quantitative differences in the host chemistry, and presents a sustainable form of defence. Salicylic acid (SA) is the major signalling molecule that leads to systemic acquired resistance (SAR), while also being able to induce the expressions of many defence-related genes through different pathways. In the presented experiment, 100mM SA was applied to the bark sections of the Norway spruce before they were exposed to the bark beetles. This was done in order to study changes in concentrations of total phenolics in the secondary phloem of the Norway spruce during I. typographus attack. SA alleviated the initial response of total phenolics to bark beetle attacks. Furthermore, SA-treatment alleviated the degradation of total phenolics or, as the case may be, led to the acclimatisation of defence response in total phenolics. Thus, we came to a conclusion that the defence response of total phenolics to bark beetle attacks corresponds to general ecophysiological concept.
