Abstract:Magistrsko delo se ukvarja s proučevanjem področja globalizacije in revščine. V poglavju o globalizaciji sem opredelil različne definicije globalizacije, prikazal faktorje, ki so spodbudili globalizacijo, različne vidike globalizacije in meril globalizacijo z indeksom globalizacije. V začetnem delu analize sem najprej opredelil kazalnike, s katerimi sem preverjal hipotezo H 1 in hipotezo H 2, nato pa sem dodal še ekonomske kazalnike globalizacije (trgovina, TNI), kazalnik razvoja in z analizo regresije preveril še hipotezo H 3.

Title:Globalization and Poverty
Abstract:The master thesis deals with the study of the scope of globalization and poverty. Globalization is a process that strongly contributed to the opening of borders, the movement of capital and creating a free market. Globalization has many definitions; most people believe that globalization is predominantly associated with positive feelings and expectations of a better life, new working positions, a number of opportunities, etc. In the chapter on globalization, we have identified different definitions of globalization, illustrated the factors which have encouraged globalization, showed different aspects of globalization and measured the globalization with the globalization index. The next section of the master thesis covers poverty. Poverty can be defined as the lack of the necessities such as food, clothing, shelter and safe drinking water. Poverty can be defined from various perspectives; thus, we can distinguish between absolute poverty, relative poverty and subjective poverty. Just as we have the various aspects of poverty, we have different ways of measuring poverty and international organizations dealing with them (World Bank, Eurostat, United Nations). In the last part of the chapter on poverty, we have shown some of the links between poverty and globalization, where the globalization has primarily been defined from the economic perspective (economic growth, trade, FDI). In the end of the master thesis, we have made the analysis which aimed to explore the impact of globalization on poverty. We tried to confirm the positive role of globalization on reducing poverty. In the first part of the analysis, we first identified indicators with which we have examined H 1 hypothesis and H 2 hypothesis, and then we added the economic indicators of globalization (trade, FDI), indicator development and checked the H 3 hypothesis with regression analysis.
Keywords:Globalization, dimension of globalization, the index of globalization, poverty, poverty measurement, trade, economic growth, foreign direct investment, regression analysis.
