Abstract:
V diplomskem delu je podrobno predstavljena anatomija in fiziologija očesa in opisano je, kaj je siva mrena, vrste sivih mren in razložen je potek operacije sive mrene, ki je edini način zdravljenja sive mrene. Predstavljena je tudi vloga medicinske sestre pred, med in po operaciji sive mrene, prav tako pa edukacija bolnika. V empiričnem delu je predstavljena raziskava, ki je bila opravljena med bolniki Očesnega kirurškega centra magistra Primoža Logarja, doktorja medicine, specialista oftalmologa v Ljubljani, meseca marca in aprila 2009. Namen raziskave je bilo ugotoviti, koliko bolniki vedo o sivi mreni glede na spol, starost in izobrazbo, ali jih je strah operacije sive mrene in kaj želijo še vedeti o operaciji sive mrene. Ugotovili smo, da o operaciji sive mrene več vedo ženske kot pa moški, da večino informacij dobijo bolniki od znancev, prijateljev in sosedov, da večina bolnikov želi še več vedeti o operaciji sive mrene in da je veliko bolj strah operacije sive mrene ženske kot moške. Glede na razultate raziskave pa ne bi mogli trditi, da bolj kot so bolniki izobraženi, več vedo o operaciji sive mrene. Prav tako ne bi mogli trditi, da mlajši bolniki več vedo o operaciji sive mrene kot starejši. Večina bolnikov si želi še več vedeti o operaciji sive mrene, prav tako pa si želijo videti kakšen film o operaciji sive mrene.

Title:
Patient education before cataract surgery
Abstract:
The diploma thesis describes in detail the anatomy and physiology of an eye. It provides the description of cataract, the types of cataract as well as the operation procedure as the only treatment for it. The role of the nurse before, during and after the cataract operation is described as well as the education of a patient. The empirical part presents a research performed among the patients of the Eye surgical center of dr. Primož Logar , specialist ophthalmologist in Ljubljana in March and April 2009. The purpose of the research was to find out how much the patients of different gender, age and education know about cataract, whether they are afraid of the cataract operation and what more do they wish to know about the operation. It was concluded that women know more about the operation than men, the patients get most of information from their acquaintances, friends and neighbors, most of the patients wish to learn even more about cataract operation, women are much more afraid of the operation than men. Considering the results of the survey it could not be concluded that the higher the education of patients the more they know about the cataract operation. And could not be concluded that younger patients know more about the operation than the older ones. Most patients wish to know even more about the cataract operation and they would also wish to see a film about the cataract operation.
