Title:GLASS AS A CHALLENGE IN ARTISTIC CREATION
Abstract:The following dissertation would like to present glass as a material that I feel very close to as I have been working with it for a number of years. All the knowledge I have gained through years has been converted into my own artistic expression. The materials I have been using in my artistic creation bear their own expression, their own character, their own psychical contents, and consequently, the right choice of materials creates a harmony of the idea. The first part of the dissertation deals with technology, characteristics and different types of glass. The development in art has changed the purpose of artistic creation and also the attitude to glass as such. There are now new qualities. New methods of working and combining glass have been developed, for instance, etching, painting on glass, mosaic, vitrage, etc. The second part of the dissertation consists of a presentation of my own works, and a presentation of those artists who I consider are closest to my own way of thinking. When creating my own pieces of art the greatest inspiration was, without any shadow of a doubt, nature. I was inspired by branches on trees, which express countless different ways of movement, they close interesting shapes and vacuums in which glass appears as a filler. All this, together with the dependence of colour and form, has given me a lot of new and valuable knowledge and also a will and power to insist on finishing my dissertation successfully.
