Abstract:Tema diplomskega dela je neprimerno ravnanje z zdravili.

Title:Improper handling of medicines
Abstract:The topic of the thesis is the improper handling of medicines. Improper handling of medicines represents a seriuous environmental and health issue, as pharmaceutical substances that end up in mixed waste or wastewater can contaminate water and soil. This negatively impacts ecosystems, human health, and contributes to the development of bacterial resistance to antibiotics. Despite the availability of collection systems fort he safe disposal of pharmaceutical waste, improper disposal remains a challenge. As part of the thesis, we conducted a survey distrubited among the general population to assess individuals' awareness of the correct disposal of expired medicines. The results showed that many people are still unfamiliar with the proper disposal procedures or do not follow them adequately. The key solution to mitigating this problem is the consistent return of pharmaceutical waste to pharmacies, where appropriate disposal procedures are ensured, along with continued public awareness efforts on the responsible use and disposal of medicines.
