Abstract:Magistrska naloga preučuje povezanost sprejemanja mitov o posilstvu med slovenskimi študenti s sociodemografskimi dejavniki in ambivalentnim seksizmom. Miti o posilstvu utrjujejo škodljive stereotipe, spodbujajo obtoževanje žrtev in banalizirajo spolno nasilje. Najmočnejša napovednika sta spol in ambivalentni seksizem, saj so moški ter posamezniki z višjimi ocenami seksizma izražali višje stopnje sprejemanja mitov. Dodatne analize so razkrile, da sta višja stopnja izobrazbe in odsotnost verske pripadnosti povezani z nižjim sprejemanjem mitov, medtem ko starost ni imela pomembne vloge.

Title:Rape myth acceptance among college students in Slovenia
Abstract:This master's thesis examines the relationship between rape myth acceptance among Slovenian students, sociodemographic factors, and ambivalent sexism. Rape myths reinforce harmful stereotypes, promote victim blaming, and trivialise sexual violence. This study addresses a gap in the Slovenian literature on this topic. Data were collected from a sample of Slovenian students using the survey method and analysed using statistical tests. Rape myth acceptance and ambivalent sexism were measured using standardized scales, with sociodemographic variables also included. The results indicate a relatively low overall level of rape myth acceptance. Gender and ambivalent sexism emerged as the strongest predictors, with men and individuals scoring higher on the sexism scale exhibiting greater myth acceptance. Additional analyses revealed that higher levels of education and lack of religious affiliation were associated with lower myth acceptance, while age did not have a significant impact. These findings align with international research that underscores the influence of gender norms and ambivalent sexism on attitudes towards sexual violence. The study thus highlights the importance of understanding the role of gender and addressing sexism for reducing the acceptance of rape myths and improving societal responses to sexual violence.
