Abstract:Prometne nesreče z udeležbo divjadi so v Sloveniji vse pogostejše, predvsem zaradi širjenja cestne infrastrukture v naravna območja.

Title:Preventive measures in road traffic - collision with wildlife
Abstract:Traffic accidents involving wildlife are becoming increasingly common in Slovenia, primarily due to the expansion of road infrastructure into natural areas. This increases the risk of collisions between vehicles and wild animals, which not only causes material damage but also endangers the safety of both drivers and animals. In this thesis, we thoroughly analyzed the issue of these accidents and the existing preventive measures, such as protective fences along roads, blue reflectors, overpasses and underpasses for safe wildlife crossings, and traffic signs warning of animal presence. In the second part of the thesis, we presented examples of good practices from abroad, where green bridges and sound deterrents have already proven effective in reducing collisions. Despite these measures, the number of accidents continues to rise, indicating the need for additional solutions. We propose upgrading the infrastructure, improving cooperation between state institutions and local communities, and employing advanced technologies, such as sensor systems for detecting wildlife near roads. In addition to technical improvements, it is crucial to raise driver awareness about the dangers posed by wildlife, especially during migration and mating seasons. The thesis provides insights into the current challenges and solutions for improving road safety in Slovenia, particularly concerning collisions between vehicles and wildlife.
