Title:Online fraud investigation
Abstract:Online fraud is a form of cybercrime that is increasingly spreading with the growing use of the internet. Online fraud includes various methods by which perpetrators obtain personal data, financial information, or other sensitive information from internet users. Due to their diversity and complexity, they pose a serious threat to both individuals and organizations. The thesis presents the investigation of online fraud, which is a complex and lengthy process that requires investigators to have not only general police knowledge but also specific computer skills. Key factors for a successful investigation include the collection and analysis of publicly available data using dedicated tools and international police cooperation. Various types of online fraud occurring in the modern digital environment are discussed, with a particular focus on the procedures for investigating these crimes, analysis of case studies illustrating the complexity and diversity of online fraud, and the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies. The importance of a comprehensive approach to addressing online fraud, which includes both investigation and prevention, is emphasized. Based on the reviewed literature, it has been found that law enforcement agencies are becoming increasingly successful, as evidenced by cases of successfully completed investigations. The analyzed cases can provide guidelines for future investigations.
