Abstract:V literaturi in v splošnih normah turističnih destinacij veljata skrb in želja pa ohranitvi ter zaščiti naravnih vrednot in kulturnih znamenitosti.

Title:The impact of mass tourism on natural and cultural heritage
Abstract:The literature and the general norms of tourism destinations are based on a concern and desire to preserve and protect natural and cultural sites. But in reality - despite the growing concern for- and awareness of the importance of nature - the road to protecting or taking action on natural values is very long; many compromises have to be made for the economic interests of those who exploit it. As a result, the desire to maximise exploitation, as well as the difficulty of preserving more fragile or older sites, has led to the degradation of cultural sites in many countries. Both are also severely affected by vandalism, of which there are many kinds and not only perpetrated by tourists. There are also a number of ways and options for a local community or country to respond to such acts and for countries to further protect cultural monuments and natural values. We have found that a stronger response to damage to cultural sites and a higher level of protection of natural values and cultural sites does not reduce the tourism attractiveness of such a place and that the measures taken do not reduce tourist arrivals.
