Title:Designing a campus as a catalyst for economic development and social cohesion in a small town: a case study of Bjelovar
Abstract:This thesis examines how campus design can catalyze economic development and social cohesion in small towns, focusing on Bjelovar. The study examines how strategically planned educational campuses can transform local economies, foster community engagement, and enhance social integration. By analyzing the principles of campus development and the specific needs of Bjelovar, the research provides a framework for a campus that not only meets educational goals but also brings broader community benefits. The proposed design for the new Bjelovar University of Applied Sciences campus integrates academic, residential, commercial, and social spaces to create a vibrant, multi-functional environment that fosters innovation, community interaction, and economic vitality. The study demonstrates that thoughtful campus planning can significantly enhance local prosperity and cohesion, offering a model for similar initiatives in other small towns.
