Lastnosti škrobno-hitozanskih aerogelov smo karakterizirali z metodami plinske adsorpcije, vrstične elektronske mikroskopije (SEM), Fourierjeve transformacijske infrardeče spektroskopije (FTIR), termogravimetrične analize (TGA) in diferencialne vrstične kalorimetrije (DSC). Nazadnje smo z izvedbo testov nabrekanja in stabilnosti preučili njihovo obnašanje v vodnem mediju.

Title:Enhancing starch aerogels through chitosan modification
Abstract:The aim of the thesis was to synthesize polysaccharide-based starch-chitosan aerogels and investigate the effects of chitosan addition on their thermal and structural properties. Polysaccharide aerogels are highly lightweight and porous materials, which, due to their biocompatible and biodegradable nature, have emerged as promising candidates for novel biomedical applications over the past decade. In the experimental section, starch-chitosan aerogels with varying concentrations of both polymers using sol-gel synthesis were prepared. The supercritical carbon dioxide drying followed. The drying process was conducted at 40 °C and 120 bar using a pilot-scale supercritical drying apparatus, UHDE. The structural and thermal properties of the starch-chitosan aerogels were characterized through gas adsorption, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). Additionally, their behavior in aqueous media was assessed through swelling and stability tests. The results demonstrated that chitosan was successfully incorporated into the starch aerogel matrix, leading to enhanced structural and thermal properties.
