Keywords:Ekonometrična analiza, metoda najmanjših kvadratov, CO2 emisije, gospodarska aktivnost, BDP na prebivalca, industrijska proizvodnja, delež urbanega prebivalstva.

Title:Impact of economic activity on environmental pollution: an empirical analysis
Abstract:In this thesis, we look at the impact of economic activity on environmental pollution, conducting an empirical analysis for the years 2002 and 2019 in 96 countries. Our work is divided into two parts. In the first part, we present the data and define the variables. The second part aims to investigate how different economic factors, such as GDP per capita growth, industrial production and the share of urban population, affect CO2 emissions. The results show that the negative impact of GDP growth on pollution increased between 2002 and 2019, reflecting the higher intensity of economic activity and increased consumption leading to higher emissions. On the other hand, the urban population share had a larger negative impact on pollution in 2002 than in 2019, which can be attributed to improvements in urban infrastructure and the increased implementation of green technologies in recent years.
Keywords:Econometric analysis, least squares, CO2 emissions, economic activity, GDP per capita, industrial production, share of urban population.
