Abstract:Uvod: Kronična vnetna črevesna bolezen je kronično recidivno in remitentno stanje.

Title:Nutritional beliefs and behaviors of patients with chronic inflammatory bowel
Abstract:Introduction: Chronic inflammatory bowel disease is a chronic relapsing and remitting condition. Chronic inflammatory bowel diseases include Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, which present a challenge both to patients who have to decide what to eat, and to doctors, nurses and dieticians who want to know how to give the best advice. Methods: For the theoretical part of the final work, we used a descriptive research method. In the empirical part of the final work, we used an anonymous structured questionnaire to collect data. In the survey, which took place in March 2024, we surveyed 207 patients. The obtained data were statistically analyzed with the help of IBM SPSS and Microsoft Excel programs. Results: We found that more than half (54,11 %) of the respondents were of the opinion that diet is the most important cause of the development of the disease. We found that 58,45 % of the respondents follow any kind of diet. 85,51 % of respondents avoid certain foods in order to reduce the symptoms of the disease. 92,75 % of respondents have regular meals. Discussion and conclusion: We believe that the study can help in understanding the nutritional beliefs and behaviors of patients. Based on the results, we can advise them accordingly in alleviating their symptoms. Due to the ever-increasing number of patients with chronic inflammatory bowel disease, it is important to research and learn about nutritional methods and ways that would alleviate their ailments.
