Abstract:Uvod: Rak je bolezen, kjer so okvarjeni mehanizmi celice. Kemoterapija je vrsta sistemske terapije zdravljenja raka. Redna telesna dejavnost in normalen ITM sta bistvena dejavnika preventive. Primerjali smo število zaključenih ciklusov kemoterapije, meritve kakovosti življenja in stranske učinke z uporabo anketnega vprašalnika. Analizo podatkov smo opravili z uporabo deskriptivne in inferenčne statistike.

Title:Effects of exercise on oncology patients undergoing chemotherapy
Abstract:Introduction: Cancer is a disease where cell mechanisms are defective. Chemotherapy is a type of systemic cancer treatment. Regular physical activity and normal BMI are essential factors in prevention. Our aim was to investigate the effectiveness of physical exercise during chemotherapy cycles in oncology patients. Methods: The final work is based on quantitative research methodology. We preformed an experimental research on the impact of physical exercise in oncology patients during chemotherapy treatment. Twenty patients were randomized into two groups: an intervention (10 patients) that performed supervised exercise and a control (10 patients) that didn't perform exercise. We compared the number of chemotherapy cycles completed, quality of life measures and side effects using a questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: The intervention group was found to have a lower incidence of side effects (AV = 1.53) compared to the control group (AV = 1.81), and the difference was statistically significant (p = 0.029). Quality of life is also rated better (p = 0.025). The number of failed cycles is lower in the intervention group (AM = 7.8) than in the control group (AM = 13.2), the difference is statistically significant (p = 0.014). Discussion and conclusion: Physical exercise is important for oncology patients, so it should be included in institutions where oncology patients are treated. It also helps with better rehabilitation. It is necessary to combine aerobic and anaerobic exercise.
