Title:Comparison of residental house heating with wood biomass and a heat pump and their environmental impact
Abstract:The master's thesis covers the calculation of heat loads according to the SIST EN 12831:2004 standard, for which the internal temperature is determined according to SIST EN ISO 7730 206 standard. Based on the actual temperature for the area of the building, according to the technical guideline on efficient energy use, a time-dependent thermal COP is determined for air-water heat pumps for three heating seasons (2020/2021, 2021/2022 and 2022/2023). A comparison of the calculated heat loads, that take into account the project outdoor temperature with the heat loads that are based on the actual temperatures, showed that the calculations based on the project outdoor temperature do not show the actual heat load of the building. Comparison is given of electricity consumption of the ideal and actual COP number. With the calculated values of heat loads, the consumption of wood biomass is determined, which is compared with the consumption of electricity when using a heat pump. Due to the COP number, the heat pump is a more energy efficient heating system. Emissions were determined for the resulting consumption of both energy sources. The comparison of emissions showed that heating with wood biomass contributes less CO2 and represents a lower cost for the user compared to heating with a heat pump.
