Abstract:Uvod: Sladkorna bolezen je vse pogostejša presnovna motnja. Merilci omogočajo deljenje podatkov o vrednosti glukoze pacientovim bližnjim, kar pripomore k izboljšanju medosebnih odnosov znotraj družine in med prijatelji. Zmanjšata se strah pred hipoglikemijo ter pogostost in intenzivnost nočnih epizod hipoglikemije.

Title:Impact of continuous glucose monitoring devices on quality of life among adult diabetes patients
Abstract:Introduction: Diabetes is an increasingly common metabolic disorder. The gold standard of diabetes management is adapted lifestyle and self-monitoring of blood glucose, most often with standard meters requiring finger prick. Continuous glucose monitors present an alternative. This thesis aims to investigate the impact of continuous blood glucose monitors on the quality of life of adult patients with diabetes. Methods: We reviewed scientific literature, searching the CINAHL, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane Library databases. We followed with a review, assessing the strength of evidence using the hierarchy of evidence, analysis, and synthesis of the selected literature based on content analysis. Results: 19 studies were included, classified according to the hierarchy of evidence as level 1 (2 studies), level 2 (5 studies), level 4 (1 study) and level 5 (11 studies). We found that continuous glucose monitors positively impact the quality of life of patients with diabetes. Discussion and conclusion: Continuous glucose monitors improve quality of life, but patients must be educated about proper use. The monitor allows sharing glucose data with the patient's family and friends, helping improve interpersonal relationships. Fear of hypoglycemia and the frequency and intensity of nocturnal hypoglycemia episodes are reduced.
