Metode: Pregledali smo znanstveno literaturo s področja doživljanja komunikacije oseb z demenco in njihovih ožjih svojcev z zdravstvenimi delavci. Pri iskanju smo uporabili ključne besede, ki so bile: communication, experience, adult living with dementia and family member, healthcare professional. Članki so bili iskani v naslednjih podatkovnih bazah: PubMed, CINAHL, SAGE in Web of Science. Prav komunikacija in odnos zdravstvenih delavcev do pacientov z demenco in njihovih svojcev predstavljata pomemben dejavnik za uspešnejše zdravljenje in izvajanje celostne zdravstvene nege.

Title:Experience of communication of persons suffering from dementia and their close relatives with healthcare workers
Abstract:Introduction: More and more people have dementia, defined as a condition that has a range of consequences for people with dementia, their families and healthcare professionals. However, all types of dementia share communication challenges, and it is important that health professionals are aware of the importance of these challenges and help people with dementia and their families overcome the barriers that dementia brings. Methods: We reviewed the scientific literature on the communication experiences of people with dementia and their close family members with healthcare professionals. The keywords used in the search were communication, experience, adults living with dementia and family members, and healthcare professionals. The articles were searched in the following databases: PubMed, CINAHL, SAGE and Web of Science. The course of the literature search was presented using the PRISMA diagram. Results: We retrieved 1200 records from the databases; five articles were included in the analysis. The literature review found that negative experiences related to communication between people with dementia and their relatives and healthcare professionals still outweigh positive experiences. Discussion and conclusion: Interventions to improve the experience are of great importance. The communication and attitude of healthcare professionals towards patients with dementia and their families are important factors for more successful treatment and integrated care.
