Abstract:Naloga temelji na celoviti prenovi gradu Vrbovec in okolice.

Title:Complete renovation of castle complex Vrbovec
Abstract:The task is based on the comprehensive renovation of Vrbovec Castle and its surroundings. It is located in the Upper Savinja Valley, specifically in the municipality and town of Nazarje. The castle is intriguing as it surrounds a high rocky mass and stands at the confluence of two rivers, the Savinja River and the Drava River. Researchers and historians suggest that the original form of the castle dates back to the 12th century, and the appearance of the current castle is believed to have been established around 1480. Throughout the centuries, Vrbovec Castle has undergone numerous changes, renovations, fires, as well as its surroundings. In the project task, it makes sense to thoroughly examine Vrbovec Castle and its surrounding urbanism. The comprehensive renovation primarily focuses on restoring critical parts of the complex, preserving elements that are meaningful to keep due to their historical significance, and adapting some parts of the complex where new architecture can emerge. The master’s thesis presents a conceptual architectural design, as well as an urban design, created through theoretical foundations, detailed analyses of the surroundings and the structure, and the exploration of the space’s potentials. The project’s focus is on the right wing of the castle.
