Abstract:Namen prispevka je pojasniti izvor in razvoj koncepta organizacijske kulture, njen pomen ter metode merjenja. Raziskovali smo organizacijsko kulturo športnih in turističnih organizacij.

Title:Organizational culture : understanding, evolution and measurement from the industrial revolution to the digital era
Abstract:The purpose of the paper is to explain the origin and development of the concept of organizational culture, its importance and methods of measurement. First, we chronologically represent the concept of organizational culture in different periods of organization development. The concept of organizational culture emerged at the beginning of the 20th century. It derives from the paradigm of organizational behaviour. Understanding of organizational culture has changed in parallel with the level of development of organizations. Today's understanding of organizational culture stems from the theory of social identity. The emergence and development of the organizational culture has a purely economic background. It is a mistake to believe that the motives of organizations for the development of a culture are morally and ethical. We have explored the organizational culture of sports and tourism organizations. We wondered if there were any differences between them. We used the GLOBE questionnaire. We did an online survey. The analysis showed, that statistically significant differences exist. Sports clubs more respect for power and authority, avoid uncertainty. They are more focused on performance. Tourist associations are more respectful of gender equality. We observe that the world is changing even after globalization.
