Abstract:Glampingi so novodobna oblika turizma. Zaradi nenadne in naraščajoče priljubljenosti glampingov smo se v naši empirični raziskavi lotili analize nemških in angleških prevodov spletnih strani slovenskih glampingov. Največkrat zasledimo dobesedno prevajanje in izpuščanje. Domače strani vseh naštetih so vizualno atraktivne, uporabljen je besedni in slikovni material, natančno so opisane nastanitve, lokacija, dodatne ponudbe in dodatna oprema, cenik ipd. Turistični prevodi nimajo zgolj vloge posredovanja informacij, ampak ustvarjajo vzdušje in motivirajo obisk izbrane turistične destinacije, zaradi česar strokovno in funkcionalno pripravljene spletne strani igrajo pomembno vlogo.

Title:Slovenian Glamping Tourism in a Multilingual Environment
Abstract:Glamping is a new form of tourism which offers accommodation in idyllic areas in close contact with nature with all the comfort and luxury of a hotel room and, unlike traditional campsites, with restrooms and high-standard service. There are different types of glamping, as it is a form of tourism that can be adapted to different settings. Most glamping accommodation are large and comfortable tents or holiday houses, other innovative forms can be wine barrels, tree houses, yurts, etc. Nowadays Slovenia is a popular tourist destination and is known for its natural beauty and green tourism, which make it the perfect place for a rich and diverse glamping offer. As Slovenia is visited by a significant number of foreign guests - in July 2023, 79% of foreign tourists accommodated in Slovenian tourist accommodations, while the percentage of Slovenian guests was only 21% (obtained from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia: https://www.stat.si/StatWeb/News/Index/11303) - it is crucial that touristic information is present in foreign language on official websites, which requires qualified translators who can translate the information properly, and it is also important for tourism workers to be skilled in multicultural communication with different target groups. In tourism, any texts that help tourists plan their trips are translated. This category can include travel guides, brochures and, of course, websites of tourist destinations. The "tourist language" is a specialized language with specific stylistic, lexical and pragmatic features. Sudden and increasing popularity of glamping sites raises the issue of the quality of translations that these websites offer to tourists. For this purpose, we have thoroughly analyzed eight Slovenian glamping offers and their English and German translations on search engines and found that these translations are not professionally translated, as inconsistencies and omissions often occur. Translations most often include literal translations and omissions. The majority of the omissions provided information which was important for foreign-speaking tourists; e.g. options for additional services, a detailed description of the accommodation, an opening note, etc. Moreover, in numerous cases, sentences of the translated texts remain in the source language, even though the user has selected the translated page in German or English. In this thesis, we compared the glamping offers of Slovenian glamping sites with those of foreign websites, leading to the conclusion that Austrian, Croatian, Hungarian and Italian websites have similar glamping offers. The websites of each of them are visually attractive, include verbal and pictorial material, detailed descriptions of the accommodation, location, additional offers and facilities, price list, etc. The employees of the glamping sites play a key role, as they answered a survey on their foreign language skills as part of the master thesis. The survey results show that most of the Slovenian glamping employees do not have additional linguistic skills, however, every employee speaks at least one foreign language, in most cases English. Surprisingly, almost half of the respondents claim that foreign language skills have had no impact on their current job chances. Tourist translations do not only convey information, but also create the atmosphere and motivate the visit to the selected tourist destination, which is why professionally and functionally designed websites play an important role.
