Abstract:V pričujočem delu smo analizirali evropski trg električnih avtomobilov.

Title:The electric car market in Europe: Economic opportunities and challenges
Abstract:This work is an analysis of the European market for electric cars. We started with an overview of the development of the electric car from its beginnings in the first half of the 19th century to the present day. We then looked at the state of the market today, in Europe and in other major markets, and presented its steady growth despite a number of disruptions such as Covid-19, the semiconductor crisis and the US-China trade war. We then turned our attention to individual manufacturers and looked at how some of the market leaders are coping with the electrification of their lineup. This was followed by one of the key themes, the environmental impact of electric cars, where we analysed whether the mass deployment of electric vehicles can really contribute to the green revolution it promises. If we use sustainably produced electricity, the electric vehicle is indeed cleaner, but the batteries are still a major source of pollution. We have looked at their supply chain and life cycle, highlighting issues such as China's dominance in the overall supply chain and battery recycling. This was followed by an overview of some alternative fuels, with hydrogen proving to be the most promising. We also looked at the development of public charging infrastructure across Europe and some of the alternatives that are not yet fully in place, battery swapping and wireless charging for electric vehicles. This was followed by the important topic of policies to stimulate the uptake of electric cars, such as subsidies and tax breaks, which are key to encouraging consumers to successfully switch to electro-mobility, and we also looked at Europe's ambitions to combat climate change in the context of the Green Deal. As a final topic, we looked at customer opinion and willingness to buy electric vehicles, which was further explored through a survey of the Slovenian public.
