Title:Simulacija zgorevanja dizelskega goriva in DME v zgorevalni komori dizelskega motorja

Abstract:Namen diplomskega dela je bila primerjava zgorevanja dizla in dimetil etra v zgorevalni komori dizelskega motorja. Simulacije so bile izvedene v programskem paketu FIRE in omejene na izsek ene zgorevalne komore. V dizelskih motorjih poteka zgorevanje s samovžigom goriva, zato so različne lastnosti obeh goriv vplivale na potek zgorevanja in posledično na temperaturo, tlak ter na produkte zgorevanja oziroma emisije. Na zgorevanje vpliva tudi kot ročične gredi, pri katerem se vbrizga gorivo, zato so se simulacije izvedle pri treh različnih kotih vbrizga. Škodljive emisije dizelskih goriv, kot so dušikovi oksidi, ogljikovodiki, delci, ogljikov monoksid in dioksid, nelagodno vplivajo na zdravje ljudi in naravo, zato se standardi za emisije, ki določajo dovoljeno količino emisij pri zgorevanju, bližajo vse nižjim vrednosti. Dimetil eter bi naj bil ustrezen nadomestek za dizelsko gorivo, tako imenovano alternativno gorivo. Rezultati simulacije so pokazali različne vrednosti tlaka, temperature in emisij, kot tudi prednosti in slabosti dimetil etra v primerjavi z dizlom.

Title:Simulation of diesel and DME fuel combustion in a combustion chamber of a diesel engine
Abstract:The purpose of the thesis was to compare the combustion of diesel and dimethyl ether in the combustion chamber of a diesel engine. The simulations were performed in the FIRE software package and were limited to a section of one combustion chamber. Combustion in diesel engines takes place by means of self-ignition of the fuel, so the different properties of the two fuels affected the course of combustion and, consequently, the temperature, pressure, and combustion products or emissions. Combustion is also affected by the crankshaft angle at which the fuel is injected, so the simulations were performed at three different injection angles. Harmful emissions from diesel fuels, such as nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, particles, carbon monoxide and dioxide, have an uncomfortable effect on human health and nature, so the emission standards, which determine the permissible amount of emissions during combustion, are getting closer and lower. Dimethyl ether is said to be a suitable substitute for diesel fuel, a so-called alternative fuel. The simulation results showed different values of pressure, temperature and emissions, as well as advantages and disadvantages of dimethyl ether compared to diesel.
