Title:Analysis of the suitability of sludge dehydration on WWTP Celje
Abstract:In recent years, Slovenia, including the Celje wastewater treatment plant, has been dealing with the problem of final disposal of sewage sludge. This is mainly due to the amount of sewage sludge that cannot be incinerated in the local district heating plant (Toplarna), which has a limited capacity for 4,000 tons of sewage sludge, while the Celje WWTP has 6,000 tons of sewage sludge. First, we will evaluate all the costs associated with the current sewage sludge treatment. We will investigate the possibilities of sewage sludge utilization. However, any of the proposed methods of sludge treatment will not occur overnight. Sludge accumulates daily and needs to be removed from the system daily, so I have done an analysis on the suitability of dewatering. One of the ideas for solving the sludge disposal problem at the Celje WWTP is to focus on proper sludge dewatering, while another idea is to further dry the dewatered sludge, thereby reducing the annual sludge volume and mass. In any process, all costs must be considered at all stages of dewatering, including investment costs, energy and polymer consumption, transportation costs, and incineration costs.
