Abstract:Ko pomislimo na poklic računovodje, si pogosto najprej predstavljamo nadzorovanje denarnih transakcij, shranjevanje in analiziranje finančnih informacij ter obdelavo ogromnih količin podatkov. Zaradi nenehnega zviševanja standardov, razvoja tehnologij in pričakovanj se morajo računovodje konstantno izobraževati in nadgrajevati svoje splošne in specifične kompetence, vključno z veščino komuniciranja.

Title:Skills of successful accountants and communication as an important competence
Abstract:When we think of the accounting profession, we often imagine overseeing monetary transactions, storing and analyzing financial information, and dealing with large amounts of data. All these are the key tasks of accountants, but we often overlook the skill without which the profession cannot be done. It is communication that is necessary to convey information, which is the main purpose of accounting. The standards and new technologies are constantly evolving, and the expectations are becoming higher, therefore accountants must regularly educate themselves and upgrade their general and specific skills, including communication skills. In the empirical part of the thesis, compliance with the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants using a questionnaire was researched, the skills of successful accountants were presented, and their need to attend additional training and courses to improve their competencies. 42 people whom we randomly selected with the help of the internet participated in the survey. They were all accountants. We found that all of them actively follow the Code of Ethics for Professional Accountants, but they are not fully aware of what exactly it contains. The survey showed that most accountants attend additional training and courses to improve their work competencies.
