V empiričnem delu diplomskega dela analiziramo poslovanje treh slovenskih večjih delniških družb v različnih panogah: Krka, tovarna zdravil, d. d., mednarodno generično farmacevtsko podjetje s sedežem v Novem mestu, Petrol, d. d., največja slovenska energetska družba in Impol 2000, d. d., največji predelovalec aluminija na Balkanu.

Title:The impact of the covid-19 pandemic and the russian-ukrainian war on the operations of major slovenian joint-stock companies
Abstract:Recent years have been strongly marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, which changed all aspects of people's lives and faced companies with challenging circumstances that required constant adaptations for successful business operations. The COVID-19 pandemic was followed by another global shock, the Russian-Ukrainian war, which caused a rapid rise in the prices of raw materials and energy products and additionally faced companies with new problems. In the diploma work we initially analyze various aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic - the health, socio-political and economic aspects. Then we focus on the background of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, describe the importance and size of both economies for the world market, and describe international sanctions and their impact on the Russian economy. In the empirical part of the thesis, we analyze the business operations of three major Slovenian joint-stock companies in different industries: Krka, tovarna zdravil d.d. an international generic pharmaceutical company with headquarters in Novo Mesto, Petrol d.d., the largest Slovenian energy company and Impol 2000 d.d. the largest aluminum processor in the Balkans. We describe and analyze the operations of the aforementioned companies before the pandemic in the years 2015-2019, show the impact of the pandemic on their business operations in 2020 and 2021, and describe the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on the business operations of the companies in 2022. We also show the companies' expectations for the year 2023.
